Teaching and Learning Programs
At Beacon Hill Primary we believe all children should enjoy learning and experience a broad curriculum. Our highly successful programs are developed by the teachers based on the Board of Studies syllabuses.
There are six key learning areas. All students are provided with learning experiences according to their stage of development. The stages of learning are:
- Early Stage 1 Kindergarten
- Stage 1 Years 1 & 2
- Stage 2 Years 3 & 4
- Stage 3 Years 5 & 6
No matter which class your child is placed in, all children in the grade/stage will experience collaboratively planned teaching and learning strategies. We can achieve this by releasing teachers and their team leaders to cooperatively plan each semester's units of work.
Teachers are provided with updated courses to become familiar with newly developed syllabuses. Our school's curriculum policies reflect the requirements of the Board of Studies and the Department of Education and Training.
During each year of school and by the end of their time at Beacon Hill, we want all children to have experienced quality education which addresses their individual needs. Whilst focusing on personal best and aiming higher, children will experience success and a sense of fulfilment. Our teachers strive to ensure Beacon Hill children engage and continue to engage in learning. Each child belongs at Beacon Hill, they have supportive friends and respect their school and teachers.
Our teachers use a balance of teaching styles throughout the school day to cater for the student's individual differences and preferred learning styles. Some of the ways we teach include whole class instruction, group work based on ability, mixed ability groups, working with a partner, individual learning programs, interactive whiteboards (Smartboards), computers, video conferencing and bookwork.

The words of our school song have a strong and practical meaning for our children. Beacon Hill children live up to our school motto Be Proud to Achieve.
